My patients often say, “You want me to do what?” when they complain to me about their dry, crusted or drippy nose. I suggest washing because it just makes sense to begin with washing before offering medications. Nasal washing makes sense because it is safe, effective and economical. I have found that educating people about nasal health has resulted in fewer doctor visits and appreciative people. As we age we have more reasons than most to wash, keeping the body’s filter clean and in good working order is a common sense approach.

Well, there are a few different schools of thought on this matter. The FDA, for instance, has compiled a list of and recommended dosages for the vitamins and minerals that they have tested to be essential for general good health. But research has pointed out substantial gaps in the FDA’s essential nutrient list: Lycopene, selenium, and chromium, are but a few substances that have been shown to produce beneficial results in stopping oxidation and maintaining a healthy metabolism, but have yet to be added to the FDA’s list with a recommended daily allowance.

Full AnswerHi Tiff, I love lentil soup. Can lentils be sprouted for salads and such?? Duane. Tiffany Answers: Hello Duane, what a great question to ask as we approach the month of March and Springtime air. Tender sproutlets of grains, beans, and seeds are known to be the ultimate Springtime food as they replenish our bodies with energy and vital nutrients. Sprouts are known for their cooling properties and their ability to detoxify the body, especially the liver. Lentil sprouts are great because they only require four hours of soaking. Most nutritious if sprouted to half and inch but tastier if allowed to grow longer. I recommend 3/4 cup to one Quart of sprouts.

I tend to keep my muscles tighter than I could because of concentration on an activity or a sub-conscious idea that I’ll drop something I’m holding or lose my balance. I catch myself over-exerting pressure or force whether I’m stirring food, scrubbing pots or carrying a bale of hay. I often use a little more muscular contraction than necessary.
